Our History
The Professional Men’s Society was formed in 1975. The initial membership consisted of 87 members from La Jolla and nearby areas. The effort to gain members was spearheaded by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellenwood who solicited friends, neighbors, members of various clubs and groups, including the La Jolla Newcomers Club.
The first meeting was held at the home of Joe Passke and was attended by Lincold Caffall, John Benedict, Brandon O’Sullivan, Don Cail, Jim McCracken, Ed Dawson, and Bob Ellenwood. Officers were elected at a later meeting held at the La Jolla Village Inn in September 1975. The first official meeting place was the Marine Room.
Today we have a strong group of professionals that enjoy the camaraderie of our fellow members and look forward to our monthly meetings and the great line-up of educational speakers.
